Аннотация (на английском языке). Strengths and limitations of Class II correctors attached to fixed appliances
During the last years different class II correctors attached to the fixed appliances have obtained the vast use in daily orthodontic practice. These appliances have claimed to have advantages over the traditional appliances as being compliance free, non-expensive, less prone to breakages and offering shorter treatment time.
However it has been well documented that being absolutely tooth-borne they provide only dental effects. This would bring the appliances very useful for anchorage purposes in both jaws, as well as for distalization of the upper posterior dentition.
Mindful of the advantages, these appliances may produce several side effects and it seems that the treatment success is very dependent on the pre-treatment inclination of the occlusal plane.
The treatment effects of the appliances reported in the literature along with clinical cases will be discussed during this presentation.
